Cash Flow

Cash Flow measures the movement of cash during a period: money coming in and money going out, netting to your position. It answers “how much cash did I generate or burn in the last month?”

Real-world example: you buy a car with cash — net earnings shows the depreciation/expense only over time, while cash flow shows the cash out at the moment it moved.

Where to see it

• The Net Earnings Summary card (dashboard) details income − expenses for the period.
• The Cash Flow Summary card shows in vs out per day/week/month.
• The deeper: Cash Flow report (Reports menu): supports custom date ranges and uses the filter dialog that preserves your chosen date range and frequency.
• Bluecoins reports might show cash flow with transfer and non-cash annotations if exported.

FAQ

• If I pay my credit card from checking, does cash flow change? No net change — a transfer. (The card’s debt is a liability.)
• What’s net earnings vs profit? Same concept — income minus expenses, ignoring transfers and capital movements.
• Why does the Net Earnings card differ from the cash flow card? Because of timing: accrual (earned/spent) vs cash (paid/received) and transfer exclusion differences.
