Transactions
A transaction in Bluecoins is a single entry in the transaction list: an income, an expense, or a transfer. Every underlying transaction record stores an account, an amount, a category (for income/expense), labels, dates, and optional items (a split).
Creating a transaction
Tap the floating + button on the Transactions tab.
- Pick the account. The picker remembers the last account used. Defaults can be set per account type in Settings → Transaction → Account.
- Enter the amount. The built-in calculator supports full expressions —
50 + 20%,1/3, and basic arithmetic. The result is inserted automatically. - Choose the type. Expense, income, or transfer.
- Pick a category. Your most recent categories appear first; you can also create a new category inline (see Settings → Transaction → Category for default behaviour).
- Optionally date it, add notes, labels, and attachments.
Press Save. The transaction appears in the list and anywhere you filter by it.
Reading the balance
Balance columns show the current balance of the account after that transaction, and a running balance is computed across the visible filter. Balances are also color-coded: green for positive, red for negative (with the option for separate income/expense coloring).
Editing
Tap any transaction to open it for editing. If the transaction is read-only (e.g. a bank-notification transaction), the form switches into static display mode. See the Read-only transaction mode guide.
Multi-select
Long-press a transaction to enter multi-select mode. Select as many as you like:
- the running total of the selection is shown at the bottom,
- the three-dot menu offers delete, add label, copy, paste, and change date,
- transfers grouped with a ghost date header can be batch-deleted together (the reminder batch-delete flow keeps groups intact).
Splits
Use Split to divide a transaction amount among several categories — perfect for grocery runs with a bit of everything. Each split item carries its own category and amount; the sum must equal the total.
Reminders
A reminder is a transaction that repeats automatically — and reads much like a transaction. The Reminders guide covers installing, editing, and deleting them.
Read-only mode
When a transaction’s top bar shows the edit toggle off, the form displays static text and amounts instead of input fields. This mode is used for push-notification-created transactions and (optionally) any transaction you mark as locked.
